In April 2026, the Starling Institute co-hosted a retreat in Lübbenau, Germany, with the German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS). The three-day retreat gathered a select group of diplomats, academics, policy practitioners, and think tank experts to discuss the role of Europe in the fast-changing multilateral system. Participants explored scenarios for the future of the multilateral system and considered practical political pathways for the role Europe could play in supporting a positive outcome.
