On March 16 and 17, a group of former presidents, diplomats, experts from academia, think tanks, civil society, and philanthropy met in Bogotá, Colombia, to discuss the upcoming selection process for the next UN Secretary-General. The discussion, convened by Cepei, Igarapé Institute, New York University Center for International Cooperation, the Global Cooperation Institute, and the Starling Institute, explored the role of and qualities needed in the next Secretary-General, the priorities for the first 100 and 1,000 days of their term, and the political strategy of the selection process, considering a Latin American and Caribbean regional lens.
