On Wednesday, September 23, 2026, the Starling Institute, the Global Fund for a New Economy, Cooperation Canada, and New America convened a conversation during the United Nations High-level Week exploring which actors will shape the emerging international order.

The conversation opened with a message from Anne-Marie Slaughter, Incoming Dean of the School of Public Policy at the London School of Economics, followed by opening provocations from:

• Rochelle Newbold, Director of the Climate Change & Environmental Advisory Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister of The Bahamas

• Michael Keating, Executive Director of the European Institute of Peace

• Nancy Lindborg, President and CEO of The David and Lucile Packard Foundation

• Rev. Protopresbyter Nicolas Kazarian, Ecumenical Officer and Director of the Department on Inter-Orthodox, Ecumenical and Interfaith Relations, the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, and Member of the World Council of Churches Commission of the Churches on International Affairs

• Adriana Abdenur, Co-President of The Global Fund for a New Economy

• Alexia Latortue, Head of Secretariat at the Future of Development Cooperation Coalition

Minh-Thu Pham, CEO and Co-founder of the Starling Institute, moderated the conversation, with closing remarks from Kate Higgins, CEO of Cooperation Canada.
