Christian Schlaepfer is a foreign policy and multilateral diplomacy expert. As a delegate at the Permanent Mission of Switzerland to the UN in New York, he negotiated landmark agreements, including the Pact for the Future, the Global Digital Compact, the political declarations of high-level meetings on global health and the 2023 SDG Summit, as well as the establishment of a scientific panel and governance dialogue on AI. As the focal point for science and technology during Switzerland's Security Council mandate, he curated high-level signature events and supported the adoption of the Council's first-ever commitment to anticipate the impact of scientific breakthroughs on international peace and security.

Previously, Christian coordinated Switzerland's peace policy program on transitional justice and atrocity prevention, served at the Embassy of Switzerland in Berlin, and coordinated Ukraine-related activities during Switzerland's 2014 OSCE Chairmanship. As a political adviser to the OSCE Special Representative in Ukraine, he supported OSCE-led peace mediation efforts in 2015. Christian holds a PhD in History from the University of Cambridge.
